Can I test Expert Advisors without a real account?

  I've been experimenting with Expert Advisors (EAs) for a while, but I’m not ready to put real money on the line yet. I know demo accounts exist, but I’m wondering—are there better ways to test an EA without opening a live account?I learned the hard way that just because an EA works in strategy tester mode, it doesn’t mean it will perform the same in live trading. I once ran an EA that showed insane profits in backtests, so I got overconfident and put it on a real account. Within a week, it wiped out most of my balance because of execution delays and unexpected spread changes.
  So, what’s the safest way to test an EA properly? Is a demo account enough, or are there other tools I should be using?
